Hamlet? Based on works by William Shakespeare, Henry Purcell, Georg Friedrich Haendel? but also The Rolling Stones and The Beatles...
"There is something rotten in the kingdom of Denmark". The king, Hamlet?s father, is dead. Hamlet?s uncle Claudius succeeds him and, less than 2 months later, marries his widow Gertrude. One night, the specter of the dead king appears to Hamlet, revealing that he has been poisoned by Claudius, and urges him to take revenge. This vengeance will drive Hamlet to madness and plunge Denmark into tragedy...
Stage director Edouard Signolet?s adaptation brings Hamlet?s vengeful madness to the fore, amplified by his rock-influenced musical choices! This new kind of tragic opera-cabaret blends baroque opera, rock and pop, offering an unprecedented immersion in Shakespeare?s most famous tragedy.
Four instruments - electric guitar, clarinet, bass clarinet and percussion - interact throughout the show, creating the impression of a travelling orchestra that takes us on an exhilarating journey from baroque to pop. Musicalities from all eras and styles come together: Purcell, Handel, Lady Gaga and The Rolling Stones are summoned for an intoxicating singing tour and to retrace this family tragedy. A lyrical event not to be missed. Duration ? 1 h
