In Coyoacán, Mexico, little Frida Kahlo enjoyed a happy childhood until polio turned her life upside down. Mocked for her disability, she developed a vivid imagination and an uncommon inner strength. Supported by her parents, she dreamed of becoming a doctor, but a serious accident turned her towards painting. The film retraces her early years, her pain, her dreams and her struggles, with a colorful, phantasmagorical aesthetic. Olivia Ruiz lends her voice to Frida as both teenager and adult.
